Safety Razors

In addition to protecting you from injury, safety razors have many other benefits that include:

Affordability: While the units are expensive when you are buying them for the first time, they save you plenty of money in the long run. Once you have bought the razor, you don’t have to replace the entire razor-you only need to replace the blades which are affordable.

Consistent shaves: One of the most common complains among men and women is inconsistent shaves. With safety razors you don’t have to worry about this. The units are designed to stretch your skin with a layer of rubberized “microfins” that lift the hair and slice it off at a point that is slightly below the skin surface. The razor is able to achieve consistent closeness that protects your skin from ingrown hairs, razor burn and razor bumps.

Environmental benefits: According to razor experts, you use three times less razor cartridges with safety razors. This means that there will be less waste to dispose. Razor blades used in the units are made from a single metal razor blade thus it can be easily recycled thus saving the environment.

For you to reap the benefits that come with safety razors you need to use them properly. One of the things that you should do is avoid pushing them down into your beard or skin. Unlike other razors that shave close to the skin or give better results when you apply a lot of force on them, these razors will result to bleeding or irritation when you do it. To be on the safe side you should let the blade slide gently across your face by applying just light pressure.

When shaving, ensure that the blade moves across the beard area at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. As rule of thumb, shave in light strokes in the direction of hair growth.

To reduce friction between the razor and the skin, it’s recommended that you apply a high quality pre-shave oil, gel or soap before you begin shaving. By reducing friction, the pre-shave helps the razor to glide more effectively thus allowing a closer shave while at the same time protecting your skin.

For the razor to give you ideal results, you should replace the blades every two weeks. A good rule of thumb to follow is to replace the blades every 5-7 shaves. Replacing the blades regularly ensures that the blades are always sharp thus you always achieve close, comfortable shaves.
